Windows Explorer Context Menu Integration Enhancement

Postby birchb1024 » Wed Jun 26, 2013 4:32 am

On Windows 7 I have added a context menu item to Explorer so when I right-click a file, I get an "Open in RText" entry which starts Rtext and opens the file. Very handy. Here's the registry hack for that:

Code: Select all
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\Open with RText]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\Open with RText\Command]
@="\"C:\\Program Files (x86)\\RText\\RText.exe\" \"%1\""

I have a request

Could you change the windows installer to set this up?

I have a another request

Could you change RText so that if the user runs it passing in a Folder path, instead of a file, then Rtext starts and shows the File System Tree window with the specified directory alread 'Go Into'-ed?

Not only would this be very handy, it would also make it possible to have an 'Open in RText' context menu item for directories.

Thanks Bill! This looks pretty good, but there's one hitch. It appears that if I select multiple files with different extensions, my "Open with RText" context menu item is not displayed. If I only select a single file, or multiple files with the same extension, the context menu item is there.

Any ideas why?
