RSTA License suggestion

Postby plaidflannel » Tue Feb 28, 2012 6:00 pm

It might be helpful to potential users of RSTA if the "modes" folder of the distribution jar were pulled out and separately licensed. Even better would be a set of LGPL-licensed libraries so users could distribute only the language library actually needed, or none at all in the case where RSTA is being used for a custom domain-specific language.

RSTA's license will likely be changed to modified BSD moving forward, to appease folks who want a more liberal license for whatever reason. I thought I had documented at one point that you can simply remove most of the *TokenMaker classes you don't need, but I can't seem to find it anywhere, and I see now that in theory, the LGPL license would burden a user doing so with publishing the "source code" for their changes. With BSD this shouldn't be an issue.
