Support for softwrap/hardwrap?

Postby hubersn » Tue Jan 12, 2010 2:33 pm

When playing around with RSyntaxTextArea, I noticed the "margin" feature. It looks like, when setting the margin to some value with "setMarginLinePosition", this has no effect on the wrapping behaviour (setLineWrap, setWrapStyleWord). Wrapping always happens at panel boundaries. This is very unflexible.

What is more, wrapping is always "soft wrapping", i.e. the line structures are kept the same, it is only a "visualization" thing. What I would need is something like "hard wrapping", i.e. writing over the margin inserts a LF automatically.

I have not found anything in the JavaDoc - am I missing something?

Hi Hubersn,

There is currently no hard wrapping support in RSTA. And you're right, the margin line is just that - a visual aid - and doesn't affect line wrapping in any way. If you'd like hard wrapping added, feel free to add a Feature Request.
