How to compile to have rsyntaxtextarea.jar?

Postby Emerald » Fri Dec 25, 2009 4:10 am

I have just downloaded "rsyntaxtextarea_1.4.0_Source.zip" from SourceForge but I don't know how to use. It includes "distfiles", "i18n", "src" folders and a xml file. I just like to use rsyntaxtextarea as jar file. How to do? :|

Hi Emerald,

The "build.xml" file in the root directory of the source zip file is an Ant build script. Ant is a de-facto build tool for simple Java projects. You can download and read about Ant here:

http://ant.apache.org/

Follow that link and download Ant. Once Ant is installed (and added to your PATH, should also be in the install instructions on the site and/or a README file in the Ant download), from a command prompt, you should be able to build RSyntaxTextArea by just typing "ant" and hitting Enter.

Hope this helps!

Thank you. I did it successfully but I don't see any documentation folders (just like documetation of JDK) in order to attach to Eclipse. :geek:
