Hi Simmonsd,

Are you saying that OS X 10.7 added such files to every .jar in the app bundle?

Desktop environments are becoming increasingly hostile towards independent applications such as RText, that don't come from an app store of some kind. I'll do some playing around on a Mac to see how things work for me.

I think I've figured this one out. It seems 10.7 adds quarantine files to anything that's been downloaded. So if there's a file named filename, Mac OS adds one named ._filename that contains quarantine information. This becomes troublesome when it creates quarantine files for the plugin jars that also end in .jar.

I'm trying to run the latest version of RText (the 2.5.1 Mac OS X binary from sourceforge) on a mac computer. Whenever I open the program, it seems to crash on plugin loading with the following error message:
java.util.zip.ZipException: error in opening zip file
at java.util.zip.ZipFile.open(Native Method)
at java.util.zip.ZipFile.<init>(ZipFile.java:128)
at java.util.jar.JarFile.<init>(JarFile.java:136)
at java.util.jar.JarFile.<init>(JarFile.java:100)
at org.fife.ui.app.PluginLoader.loadPlugins(PluginLoader.java:230)
at org.fife.ui.app.AbstractPluggableGUIApplication$1.run(AbstractPluggableGUIApplication.java:231)

The computer is running Mac OS 10.7.5 and Java 1.7.0_45 (build build 1.7.0_45-b18). Any suggestions would be appreciated.
